WORK FLOW HDI
2K level finishing at the cost of HD tape. HDI is the process in which data files are digitized at 2K level grade (Uncompressed 10bit, LOG RGB) from HDCAM SR master tapes instead of a data-cine.
ADVANTAGE: 50% reduction in storage and lab costs.
DISADVANTAGE: The loss of resolution from 2048x1556 to 1920x1080.
TRADE OFF: A nearly imperceptible difference between HDI and 2K, as they are both processed in Log RGB 10bit space.
For clients seeking the best bang for the buck, the flavors of HDI can deliver 2K polished looks at a price often lower than a normal tape-to-tape HD assembly.
