After another YEAR of hiatus - we’re starting up the blog AGAIN. Reasons why we haven’t for a long time - 1. We’re busy with things here.2. Nicole (me) was designated to do the blog, and Nicole let it slip her mind. Enough with that though - let’s begin on the topic for today. RED. Some of you may or may not know that we have a Red reel we showed at our event in December. Those of you who knew, told their friends. Then, their friends wanted to come by and see what the buzz was all about - and we scheduled meetings in the theater to demo the reel. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you should probably find new friends. For those of you with good friends that are in the Filmmakers Alliance - we’re having a demo this Sunday, March 2nd at 5pm. Seats are limited to 50, and only for those in FA. However, if you’re not a part of the Filmmakers Alliance, and would like to see what the Red fuss is about - feel free to give us a ring. Also - HDEXPO NEXT THURSDAY!! Come check out our booth!
This is a big weekend for us at PCDP. Well, not really for us HERE, but for us in Vegas. A couple of the guys are going to NAB - and Steve is going to be involved in many sessions. Going “Filmless” - HD and Digital Cinema, Exploring the HD Workflow - A Panel of Experts, and In-Depth: FILMOUT - The Entire Process…just to name a few. He might be hanging out at the craps table in between, or finding a place that has good BBQ sandwiches. Who can say.
Ian is also going to be teaching a color correction course on Saturday, and both Michael and Steve are going to be a part of the Apple stage show on Tuesday. I hope they get to wear costumes. Okay, I know they’re really not going to wear costumes - but still, I think it would be amazing if people could watch Steve and Michael cage fight over who gets to wear the iPhone ensemble. Tom is also going, but he’s being really secretive about what he’s doing, so I have a sneaking suspicion that he’s going to attend some sessions and put $20 on Steve in the cage fight. So, if any of you happen to be in the area, try to check out our boys speaking, fighting, and gambling away their shirts.
As for me, since Tom designated April 16th as a day off for us, I’m going to wake up early and plant flowers with my mom. We are also holding a cage fight - she’s really controlling about the potting of the plants, and I’m sick of it. DONE with that nonsense.
I know, I know, three blogs ago I promised to update every Friday. I’ve not only failed you, but, I’ve failed myself and my mom. In my defense, we’ve had A LOT going on over here.
1. We have a new receptionist! Her name is Dana, she wears cute shoes, AND she’s fun. She’s also the new She-Ra of the vault, and once she settles in I’m handing her a costume to wear and she’ll hang a sword above the vault door.
2. Yesterday was Ian’s birthday. For some reason, I become responsible for the picking up of the cake, and making the celebration happen. A major source of stress is trying to get everyone into the lobby to sing happy birthday to someone who is trying to avoid having everyone sing happy birthday to him. Know what? I’m done with the cakes. DONE. It’s way too much stress. Ian’s in a session, no wait, Ian’s with a client, no wait, the client is gone….MADNESS. I lit the candles 3 times yesterday, only to have to blow them out because we couldn’t get him out there. THEN, Ian ends up sitting the lobby all by himself while the cake and its unlit candles sit waiting. I know these guys don’t care about the frills, they just want to eat the cake. Why do I fight it?
3. Cleo hasn’t been here for 3 days, and I’m getting an urge to knock over trash cans so I can at least pretend that she’s here. That also means Tony hasn’t been around, so I’ve been fighting the urge to take food from peoples plates while they try to eat lunch.
That’s all for now. See you next Friday.
Heart,
Nicole
Cleo just got back today. She’s all shaved on one side of her body, and has these fierce metal staples running up and down her side. She looks like Frankenstein.
We had lots of good times yesterday at HDExpo. Met a lot of people, had some free popcorn, and they even had a Margarita bar set up! If I had known that it was going to be such a party, I would’ve worn my beer hat (if I was a middle-aged man and actually owned one).
Speaking of beer, a few of us here at PCDP are entering a beer commercial contest up in Canada. It’s going to be a spoof of the show “24″, and we’re shooting tomorrow. I might get the role of “Nina”, or it might go to Paul Geffre’s wife, Robyn. I have a nagging suspicion she might get it, and I’ll be holding the boom mike.
Don’t forget, the Panasonic P2 event is next Thursday, March 15th. Join us for cocktails, hor d’oeuvres and music between 3-9pm. I think everyone will be parking across the street, so this is one day that I will NOT be moving cars in our parking lot! EXCELLENT.
Topic of the week:
Broken fridge. I ended up finding out when I came in one morning, bringing in my food for the entire day. I had to eat my breakfast and lunch at the same time. It was an awesome excuse to overindulge, even after I was told that we had a smaller, working fridge upstairs. Whatever, I have no regrets.
We’re getting a new one, but in the meantime I’ll just keep ordering out and complaining about all the food I have at home that I can’t bring. People love hearing about it.
Event of the week:
HDExpo on March 8th! We’re going to be at the Beverly Hilton, in the Oasis room - booth #135. Come visit so you can talk to Steve - not only about trailblazing technology, but also about his honeymoon in Hawaii. Michael will also be speaking at the event, and he’ll be around to answer any questions you may have about us, and how he feels about me writing the blog. For more information, visit the HDExpo website - http://www.hdexpo.net/
Also, we just wanted to send love to Cleo; she’s going to have surgery on Tuesday to remove a growth in her lungs. This week she ate a fortune cookie out of Mada’s trash, along with a Q-tip and an invoice. Way to go, Cleelee! I swear, I see Tony feeding her, she must be bored or something.
Another year, another single blog posting at PCDP…PSYCHE.
I know, that joke is beyond over. Seriously though, we’re starting it up again. A whole new, exciting blog. “Fresh Fridays” is what I like to call it. Check in on us for new updates, and new features such as…
What Tony’s dog, Cleo, has eaten out of the trash. (This past week it was a piece of tofu.)
What exciting things have happened with our clients and their projects. Congrats to everyone with The Sarah Silverman Program! Comedy Central has picked up the second season and ordered 14 more awesome episodes.
What upcoming events and seminars we’re hosting - Panasonic is going to be at our facility on March 15th, and our handsome staff is going to be giving presentations on the P2 post workflow. Birns and Sawyer will be sponsoring the event, and it’s going to be non-stop tech action from 3pm-9pm.
Topic o’ the week - This week it was how to pronounce “Bebe” - the clothing store that I don’t go in cause I don’t know how to say the name. Is it “Bee-Bee” or “Beh-Beh“? You’re right, we actually started this blog up again for the sole purpose of finding out how to pronounce “Bebe”. Whoops.
See you all next Friday!
Last week was a historic one for PCDP, as it marked the beginning of original program production.
The crew, made up of Otto Arsenault, Jody Leggio, Phil Beckner, and Paul Geffre, spent the weekend in Roseville, California taping footage for our first series concept: 4 Sisters, Inc. The shoot was a complete success. We returned early Tuesday morning exhausted, having logged over 40 hours of shooting time in 3 days. We’re confident all the time and hard work will pay off, as we got some great footage, and a very compelling story.
Congratulations, team on the start of something wonderful!
I don’t think they have White Castle in England, so last time we were in Chicago Ed and I made a late night stop so he could see what authentic American cuisine was all about. Look how happy he is.
Sorry this is out of focus…but would you be able to concentrate with a slice like this sitting in front of you? Yes, that is penne alla vodka baked into the middle of the pizza. I was able to finish exactly 1/2 of a slice.
