Machinist
While most kids in his neighborhood were probably busy engaging in some physical activity, Ryan Anthony Vega spent the better part of his youth in Texas watching obscure films and collecting rare records - or as a side hobby collecting rare films and listening to obscure records.
Upon the realization that you had to actually make music or films to pick up women, he decided to go to the University of Texas (in Austin, natch) to study how to make "tasteful" erotic thrillers shot on super 8. However, he wound up spending most of his time in the editing facilities or at the college radio station producing his late night radio show. Upon graduating with a bachelor's in Radio-TV-Film, Ryan found himself working at a record store interning at the Austin Film Society, and thinking about traveling.
A year later, he was out of the country working as an English teacher in the snowy Japanese alps.
Upon returning to the states, and buying some more records and watching some more films, Ryan rode his BMX to Hollywood and got swept up in PlasterCITY mania where he now works as a machinist learning the whole shebang about post-production. When he's not in the machine room becoming one with Final Cut Pro, Ryan spends his time creating DJ mixes, painting visual projections, and plans on one day making the first existential screwball comedy or some movie where lots of people get hurt for no reason.
